Edinburgh Fringe Festival Tech Operators

We are an award-winning production company of live comedy, looking for individuals with technical operation experience to work across several comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. 

Show And Tell have been presenting shows at the Edinburgh Fringe for fifteen years, including many award-winning and highly notable productions. We seek to create a welcoming and professional work environment at the festival, and look forward to welcome several talented and experience freelancers into our remaining vacant positions this August. 

Position 1: 
Operating a comedy sketch show, at the Pleasance Courtyard venue (Edinburgh EH8 9TJ).
Daily call-time: 4.30-6pm (performance 4.50-5.50pm). 
Dates of work: July 31st to August 25th (not 12th). 
Additional hours: 3 hour technical rehearsal on July 29th or 30th (date, time, TBC asap). 
Rate of pay: £750.00 

Position 2: 
Operating an improvised comedy show, at the Pleasance Courtyard venue (Edinburgh EH8 9TJ).
Daily call-time: 7.00-8.40pm (performance 7.30-8.30pm). 
Dates of work: July 31st to August 25th (not 7th, 13th, 19th). 
Additional hours: 4 hour technical rehearsal on July 30th, 10am-2pm. 
Rate of pay: £750.00 

Position 3: 
Operating a stand up show, at the Pleasance Courtyard venue (Edinburgh EH8 9TJ).
Daily call-time: 6.30-8pm (performance 6.50-7.50pm). 
Dates of work: July 31st to August 25th (not 13th). 
Additional hours: 1.5 hour technical rehearsal on July 30th, time tbc
Rate of pay: £750.00 

Position 4: 
Operating a stand up show, at the Pleasance Courtyard venue (Edinburgh EH8 9TJ).
Daily call-time: 5.10-6.40pm (performance 5.30-6.30pm). 
Dates of work: July 31st to August 24th (not 5th, 12th, 19th). 
Additional hours: 1.5 hour technical rehearsal on July 29th, 1pm-2.30pm
Rate of pay: £750.00 

Position 5: 
Operating a theatrical comedy show, at the Assembly Roxy venue (Edinburgh EH8 9SU).
Daily call-time: 12.15-1.55pm (performance 12.45-1.45pm). 
Dates of work: July 31st to August 25th (not 15th). 
Additional hours: 4 hour technical rehearsal on July 29th or 30th (date, time, TBC asap). 
Rate of pay: £1000.00

REQUIREMENTS 

* Previous experience operating digital sound and lighting desks, supporting live comedy or theatre performances. 
* Previous experience with QLab, or similar, programming / operating software. 
* Previous experience setting up microphones and basic sound amplification equipment, as well as setting and adjusting sound levels and balances. 
* A strong understanding of the Edinburgh Festival environment. 
* Proactive and motivated individual, with good problem-solving skills and an attention to detail. 
* Be able to work in calm and organiser manner, in a busy and often fast-paced environment. 
* Staff must be 18+ (due to licensed venues) and be legally able to work in the UK, as we’re unable to provide Visas for these roles. 

DUTIES 

* Arriving on time for your show’s daily call-time. 
* Working with the venue technical staff and the performer, in a calm and organised manner in the tight turnaround get-in time ahead of the show starting. 
* Operating all required lighting, sound and A/V cues to the best of your ability. 
* Assisting the performer with any requests pre-show. 
* Adhering to all safety guidelines and rules provided by the venue’s staff.
